Where are Liquid Pipelines Located?
There are over 200,000 miles of crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids pipeline in the U.S.
There are 2.5 million miles of natural gas pipelines in the U.S. This includes 2.2 million miles of gas distribution and over 300,000 miles of gas transmission pipelines.
Pipelines exist almost everywhere. Natural gas transmission lines transport the energy from areas of production to processing centers where the gas is purified, and any liquids are removed. From there, small diameter, buried distribution pipelines deliver natural gas directly to homes and businesses. Distribution lines provide the reliable home heating, cooking and electricity sources we rely upon every day.
